Project 2: Application of Building Services
Project 2 concerns the services systems for domestic size buildings. Therefore, students are required to utilize their semester 5 design project and apply several services systems into the design. The services systems that should be proposed are: i) cold and hot water supply, ii) sewerage & sanitary system, iii) drainage system, and iv) electricity supply system. In this assignment students will demonstrate their understanding of the basic principles and application of various building services. It will also create awareness among students on the importance of appropriate planning for building services systems and the impact it may have on their designs.
Project 2: Application of Building Services
Duration: 8 weeks
Objectives:

To develop students understanding and knowledge of building services systems in design and construction.

To apply appropriate building services system and solution for a specific design.

To demonstrate a comprehensive understanding of applicability of specific building services systems in the design in response to practical considerations.

To develop students’ ability to resolve issues related to specific building services systems.
We were expected to demonstrate our understanding of building services by proposing and designing the most appropriate systems for the building which include: i) Cold and hot water supply system ii) Sewerage & sanitary system iii) Drainage system iv) Electricity supply system Therefore, we were required to produce appropriate drawings and diagrams which include specifications, symbols, legends, images, texts, etc. to describe the planning and installation of all the building services. Additionally, students may also include specific clauses from the Uniform Building By-Law (UBBL) or other relevant Acts, Laws or guidelines which relate to the proposed systems into our presentation boards
